Youngsters burn school
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008The historic Upper Coomera school building, previously known as the Baker’s Creek School, has been burned to the ground after being set alight by school children.
he timber building, believed to be more than 100 years old, took only minutes to be engulfed by flames as firefighters could only stand back and watch the devastation unfold.
Witnesses reported two local teenagers running from the scene before the fire. It has also been reported that school children had been in the building the night before, breaking windows and vandalizing the remaining furniture.
Children aged 12 and 13 have been taken into police custody and are helping investigators with their inquiries.
